Hackney Junior Citizenship Scheme Trip

Year 6 pupils recently went on a trip to the Hackney Junior Citizenship Scheme which takes place at the youth hub that runs ‘Young Hackney’.

The girls engaged in a variety of workshops which informed them about road safety, the dangers of substance misuse, how to navigate public transport as a secondary pupil, fire safety and emotional wellbeing.

During half of their workshops, some of the girls were joined by the elected Mayor of Hackney and a councillor, who both moved around the workshops with the girls and sat in on them. Pupils also got a chance to see the Deputy Mayor of Hackney too!

The Year 6 students were placed in two separate teams at the venue yet both were fully engaged in all of the workshops. One of the Tayyibah Girls teams managed to win the most amount of points collected from their workshop activities. This was a win out 6-7 teams including teams from another school.
